大正新修大藏经第 02 册 No. 0142b 玉耶女经 玉耶女经 失译人名今附西晋录 闻如是: 一时,佛在舍卫国祇树给孤独园,为诸四辈弟子说经。是时,国中给孤独家为子娶妇,得长者女名曰玉耶,端正殊特,不以妇礼,轻慢公姑及以夫婿。给孤独长者夫妇议言:“是妇不顺,当云何教?若加杖捶,非善法也;设不教诃,其罪日增。”长者议曰:“惟佛能化。”明旦严服往诣佛所,稽首礼足前白佛言:“我为子娶妇得长者女,甚大憍慢不以妇礼,惟愿世尊,哀愍我等并诸弟子,明日劝请,到舍说经令心开解。”佛即受请,长者欢喜礼佛而归。 长者到舍广设调度严饰床座,明旦佛来到长者舍,长者欣庆请如来入舍,众坐已定,皆各礼佛却住一面,佛饭食讫并为说经,惟有玉耶憍慢不出。佛念愍之放大神力,变长者家皆化作水精色,内外相照无有障碍。玉耶见佛三十二相、八十种好,衣毛为竖战栗惶怖,即出礼佛却住一面,合掌低头默无所说。 佛语玉耶:“女人不以面貌端正,不顺夫婿非为端正,心端行正是为端正。女人身中有十恶事,不自觉知。何等十恶?一者托生父母甚难养育,二者怀妊忧愁,三者初生父母不喜,四者养育无味,五者父母随逐不离时宜,六者处处畏人,七者常忧嫁之,八者生已父母离别,九者常畏夫婿,十者不得自在,是名十恶也。” 玉耶惶怖白佛言:“世尊!愿佛教我妇人之礼,其事云何?” 佛语玉耶:“妇事夫婿公姑大长,有五善三恶。何等五善?一者后卧早起美食先进,二者挝骂不得怀恚,三者一心向夫不得邪淫,四者愿夫长寿以身奉使,五者夫婿远行整理家中无有二心,是为五善。何等三恶?一者轻慢夫婿不顺大长,美食自啖,未冥早卧日出不起,夫婿教诃瞋目怒应。二者见夫不欢心常败坏,念他男子好。三者愿夫早死更嫁,是为三恶。”玉耶默然无言可答。 佛语玉耶:“世间下有七辈妇,为汝说之一心善听。一者母妇,二者妹妇,三者知识妇,四者妇妇,五者婢妇,六者怨家妇,七者夺命妇。汝今解不?”玉耶答言:“不及此义。” 佛言:“善听,吾今解之。何等母妇?爱念夫主,如母爱子,昼夜长养,不失时宜,心常怜念,无有厌患,念夫如子,是为母妇。何等妹妇?承事夫婿,尽其敬诚,如兄如弟,同气分形,骨血至亲,无有二情,尊之重之,如妹事兄,是为妹妇。何等知识妇?奉事夫婿,敬顺恳至,依依恋恋,不能相远,私密之事,常相告示,行无违失,善事相教,使益明慧,相亲相爱,欲令度世,如善知识,是为知识妇。何等妇妇?供养大人,竭情尽行,无有一二,净修妇礼,终不废阙,进不犯义,退不失礼,常和为贵,是名妇妇。何等婢妇?心常畏忌,不敢自慢,忠孝尽节,口不粗言,身不放逸,以礼自防,如民奉王,夫婿敬幸,不得憍慢,若得杖捶,敬承奉受,及见骂辱,默然无辞,甘身苦乐,无有二心,募修妇道,不择衣食,事夫如事大家,是名婢妇。何等怨家妇?见夫不欢,恒怀瞋恚,昼夜求愿,欲得远离,虽为夫妇,心常如寄,乱头勤卧,无有畏避,不作生活,养育儿子,身行淫荡,不知羞耻,陷入罪法,毁辱亲里,夫婿相憎,咒欲令死,是名怨家妇。何等夺命妇?昼夜不眠,毒心伺之,作何方便,得远离之,欲与毒药,恐人觉之,心外情通,雇人害之,复遣傍夫,伺而贼之,夫死更嫁,适我愿之,是名夺命妇。” 佛语玉耶:“其有善妇者当有显名,宗亲九族并蒙其荣,天龙鬼神拥护其形,使不枉横、财宝日生,万分之后愿愿不违上生天上,宫殿浴池在所自然天人乐之,天上寿尽还生世间,常为富贵侯王子孙,端正姝好人所奉尊。其恶妇者当得恶名,今现在身不得安宁,数为鬼神在于家庭,起病发祸求及神明,会当归死不得长生,恶梦恐怖所愿不成,多逢灾横水火日惊,万分之后魂神受形,死入地狱饿鬼畜生,其身矬短咽如针钉,身卧铁床数千万劫,受罪毕讫还生恶家,贫穷裸露无丝无麻,孜孜急急共相鞭挝,从生至死无有荣华,作善得善作恶自遮,善恶如此非是虚也。” 佛语玉耶:“此是七辈妇,汝用何行?” 玉耶流泪前白佛言:“我本愚痴不顺夫尊,自今已后当如婢妇,尽我命寿不敢憍慢。”即前长跪求受十戒三自归命,归佛归法归比丘僧。一不杀生,二不偷盗,三不淫佚,四不妄语,五不饮酒,六不恶口,七不绮语,八不嫉妒,九不瞋恚,十者信善得善,是名十戒,此优婆夷所行。 佛说经竟,及诸弟子皆各欲还,给孤独长者眷属欢喜礼佛而退。玉耶长跪重白佛言:“我本愚痴憍慢夫婿,今蒙世尊化导,我等令心开解。” 佛语玉耶:“自今已后拥护汝家。” 玉耶言:“诺!受佛言教不敢有违。”稽首礼足受退还归。 玉女耶经
