大正新修大藏经第 01 册 No. 0033 恒水经 No. 33 [No. 26(37), Nos. 34, 35] 佛说恒水经 西晋三藏法师法炬译 闻如是: 一时,佛与大比丘僧、诸弟子、菩萨俱行到恒水。诸天人民、鬼神、龙、人非人,及初发道意者无央数,各持华香伎乐皆追从佛,已到恒水,施座而坐,众会皆定。月十五日说戒时,阿难从坐起,正衣服,前作礼,以头脑着佛足,却长跪叉手白佛言:“诸弟子坐安定,愿佛可说戒经。”佛默然不应,阿难还就坐甚久。到夜半,阿难复起前,长跪叉手白佛言:“夜已半,诸弟子坐皆安定,愿闻佛说戒经。”佛复默然不应,阿难复还就坐大久。鸡向欲鸣,阿难复起前,长跪叉手白佛言:“鸡欲鸣,诸弟子愿欲闻说佛戒经。” 佛告阿难言:“人生死展转五道以往来,在世间甚大勤苦,不自识知前世宿命本末者,皆坐心意不端故。人身甚难得,已得人身,佛经戒复难得值闻,已得闻佛经戒,信入佛道复难,已入佛道,守持经戒复难得。佛欲说戒经,今坐中有一弟子,不能持佛戒经,用是故佛不说戒经。” 阿难白佛言:“我不知何所弟子不持佛戒经?” 摩诃目乾连三昧彻视,见不持戒弟子,即起往至其前谓之言:“卿为佛作弟子,不能持戒法,是为捐弃之人,不应与尊者共同坐席,当起出,不得复入众中。”佛告摩诃目乾连:“汝好晓令出不持戒弟子。”即自惭愧出去。 佛告诸弟子:“善听今说法。”诸弟子皆叉手言:“唯然受教。” 佛言:“大海水有朝夕来往时不过故际,还去亦不过故际。诸弟子皆当端心正汝意,还自视中表五藏,思惟生死甚勤苦,当奉持戒经不当缺犯。持五戒者,还生世间作人。持十善者得生天。持二百五十戒者,现世可得阿罗汉、辟支佛、菩萨、佛泥洹大道。以道以受人身,当奉持经戒,死死不当缺犯大如毛发;譬如海水朝夕来往时不敢过故际。海中有七宝。何谓七宝?一者白银,二者黄金,三者珊瑚,四者白珠,五者车𤦲,六者明月珠,七者摩尼珠,是为海中七宝。今佛道中亦有七宝。” 佛言:“道宝是也。一者须陀洹,二者斯陀含,三者阿那含,四者阿罗汉,五者辟支佛,六者发意念度一切菩萨,七者佛泥洹大道,是为七宝。欲得道宝者,皆当弃捐淫泆、瞋恚、愚痴,持戒精进累积功德,中外清净自守,无常高士如是。海水不受恶露,若有死人、污秽臭处、不清洁者,疾风吹着岸上。今佛道中不受污秽不持经戒恶人,诸有犯经戒者,乃牵臂出之。譬如四辈鼠:一者屋间鼠,二者家中鼠,三者野田鼠,四者清溷中鼠。屋间鼠不能居平地,平地鼠不能居屋间,野田中鼠不能居人家,人家鼠不能居野田,清溷中鼠不能出清溷中也,不知仓中饶谷故也。人复有四辈。何谓四辈?一辈人端心正意持戒不犯,欲得阿罗汉道。二辈人者持戒精进,欲得辟支佛道。三辈人持戒学问明经智慧,念度一切欲得佛道。四辈人托名为弟子,不能奉持明戒不欲学问,心意犹豫恐不得道故。是为前却弟子,如是四辈鼠。” 佛言:“诸弟子!天下有五江,东流一江字沙禄,南流一江字阿夷,西流一江字恒,北流一江字默徘徊,中流名字为江;转流入海皆弃本名字,当为海水。” 佛言:“诸弟子!有婆罗门种,有刹利种,有工师种,有田家种,有乞人。有若于辈,各自道说言:‘我种豪贵。’如愧富乐贫贱,当如五江水入海,若干辈为佛作弟子,皆当弃本名字,乃为是佛弟子耳!安得复有贵贱自贡高?先知当教后知,不得言:‘我知道。’自憍贵;不得言:‘学久知经多。’不得言:‘我所作意应道,彼所作非作。’是者皆为犯戒,不得入众中也。道法长幼相教护,当相承用,有未解经道者,不得向说深事,此为大过。天下大雨水,水流入水沟,水沟流入溪涧,溪涧流入江,江流入海中,海水不增不减。诸弟子!学道得须陀洹者,有得斯陀含、阿那含者,有得阿罗汉者,有得辟支佛者,有得阿惟越致者,有得佛泥洹道者,来者去者,佛道亦不增亦不减,如海水不增不减也。” 佛言:“海中有大鱼,一者长四千里,二者长八千里,三者长万二千里,四者长万六千里,五者长二万里,六者长二万四千里,七者长二万八千里。学问不值明师,安知天下有大道乎?乘船游于洿池泉流,安知天下有江海?佛经如江海,一切世间经书皆因佛经而出,经难得再见闻,当取讽诵读,却后数千万亿岁,乃复有佛经戒耳。日月星宿当有坏败时,奉行佛经戒无有坏灭时。自今已后,佛不复说经戒。佛经戒甚重,中有受持戒犯恶者,头破作七分故也。” 佛说经讫,诸弟子皆一心重持戒法,诸天人民、鬼神、龙皆起前,以头面着地,为佛作礼而去。 佛说恒水经
